Danish Pipes |
|
| Stanwell: Founded in 1942 by Poul Stanwell. Very beautiful pipes. I have several Stanwell's in my collection - and I am very fond of them! Pay a visit to Nordic Smoker's Guild - they have an on-line Stanwell catalogue. |

| Georg Jensen: November 11, 1954, a man started making pipes in Copenhagen. And that was the foundation of Georg Jensen Pipes. |

| Anne Julie: Would you believe it... She made a pipe called "Ladies Leg". I suggest that you pay her a visit. |
|
| If you go to Copenhagen do not forget to visit
"The Tobacco Museum". The address is: 9.Amagertorv, 1160 Copenhagen K. I visited the museum in July 1998. Admission was free, and I believe it normally is. But you must pass through the famous old W.Ø. Larsen shop, and in there you will find a lot of temptations: Beautiful pipes, a lot of exciting tobacco and fine pipe accessories. |

The place where time does not exist... |
||
| It is not very large. But oh... what
beauties cover the walls. In all shapes and colours. Brown and black, straight and bent.
They are all here. Admire the fair one up to the right. Tonight you will dream about her.
And in daytime you will send her thoughts that make you smile. One day perhaps... she will
be mine. Right in the middle of the room are the most precous of them all. And they all
say: You are welcome to see, but please do not touch. And you can't - because they are all
behind glass. Many of them are silver-ladies - and many of them are black. And all of them
carry a little white beautymark telling: Look at us - we are first class. They are - and
the prices are. In the back-room you suddenly get a feeling of understanding of how to feed the fine ladies properly. Here you will find the finest raw-materials in large jars made of glass. And you just choose the mixture yourself - and you get your own number when the tobacco has finished it trip to the old scale. |
|
Use your nose and things will be revealed to you: Why your favourite tobacco tastes a little bitter. Just open the glass with pure Kentucky. Ah, I see - is Kentucky really that strong? The master himself - puffing his pipe - will advise you. Do not be afraid to ask questions - the tobacconist is a pipe-specialist if anyone is. Even today it is possible to find places where time is left outside the door. My very own favourite tobacconist-shop here in Aarhus. When you leave the shop it may be with some carefully selected tobacco of your own blend, perhaps - or it may be with one of the beauties from the walls. Now she is yours. Take good care of her. And she will not disappoint you.
